The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church<\/b> (in German: Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ged\u00e4chtniskirche<\/b>, but mostly just known as Ged\u00e4chtniskirche<\/b> [\u0261\u0259\u02c8d\u025b\u00e7tn\u026as\u02c8k\u026a\u0281\u00e7\u0259]<\/a><\/span>) is a Protestant<\/a> church affiliated with the Evangelical Church in Berlin, Brandenburg and Silesian Upper Lusatia<\/a>, a regional body<\/a> of the Evangelical Church in Germany<\/a>. It is located in Berlin<\/a> on the Kurf\u00fcrstendamm<\/a> in the centre of the Breitscheidplatz<\/a>.<\/p>\nThe original church on the site was built in the 1890s. It was badly damaged in a bombing raid in 1943. The present building, which consists of a church with an attached foyer and a separate belfry<\/a> with an attached chapel, was built between 1959 and 1963.
